The Story BehindMobile Team Manager

Field management software shaped by real-world experience.

From Whiteboards to Digital Dispatch

From Whiteboards toDigital Dispatch

MTM began in Sydney, where teams managed field schedules on a whiteboard. A change to one job could mean changing several other assignments. Paperwork had to return to the office, managers needed to check availability, and tracking qualifications and compliance added another layer of administration.

We started building software to replace that whiteboard-based process with digital scheduling and dispatch. What began as a practical solution for managing field crews became the foundation for MTM.

We Built the Software In-House

Off-the-shelf systems couldn’t accommodate the way the operation actually worked. We needed scheduling software that could account for workers, locations, vehicles, equipment, availability, and changing jobs.

So we built our own.

The first version focused on scheduling and dispatch. That early product became the starting point for Australian field workforce software that now covers a much wider range of field operations.

Tested by the People Using It

Tested by thePeople Using It

The software went into use with the same people it was built for.

Office staff tested scheduling and dispatch. Field workers used MTM on mobile devices while working across different sites. Their feedback exposed practical issues that are easy to miss when software is developed away from the field.

Where should job information appear? How many steps should a field worker need to complete a form? What does the office need to know when a job changes?

Those real-world tests helped establish MTM as a field-tested workforce management app rather than a system built only around office processes.

Scheduling was the starting point, but customers needed more from the software.

Timesheets and payroll followed. Then came digital dockets, inspections, compliance records, vehicle servicing, worker qualifications, asset information, messaging, reporting, and other operational requirements.

MTM became a complete service operations platform because these tasks are closely linked in field businesses. A worker cannot always be assigned based on availability alone. Qualifications, fatigue, location, equipment, vehicles, and site requirements can all affect the assignment.

Build Around Industry-SpecificField Operations

Construction crews, traffic management teams, asphalt contractors, and other mobile workforces face different operational requirements. MTM has been shaped by those differences, with workflows that reflect the work happening on site.

Construction

MTM provides construction operations management software for managing those requirements alongside scheduling and dispatch.

  • Build worker, contractor, plant, and equipment rosters.
  • Manage construction roster and dispatch software workflows.
  • Complete SWMS and site risk assessments from mobile devices.
  • Manage construction compliance and SWMS software requirements.
  • Track worker tickets, licences, qualifications, and expiry dates.
  • Share safety data sheets and other site documents.
  • Manage subcontractor inductions and records.
  • Track equipment inspections, servicing, calibration, and test and tag.
